Where can I find an IoV dataset?
IOV can refer to a number of different data-driven concepts;[1] in this post we will discuss Internet of Vehicles. Tom Canning’s article on VentureBeat,[2] introduces the topic with an illustration of how Subaru used open source data & software to deliver an infotainment system that monitors drivers’ wakefulness to maintain safety. Just one of many available applications of IoV.
Data-sets that offer a route into gaining familiarity with the kind of analytics used in Internet of Vehicles, are:
- openstreetmap.org aka OSM
- kolntrace.project.citi-lab.fr (street layout of Cologne via OSM; microscopic mobility of vehicles simulated using SUMO; traffic demand info via TAPAS; traffic assignment via Gawron’s dynamic user assignment algorithm)
- vehicular-mobility-trace.github.io/index.html#dataset (street layout of Creteil via OSM; traffic demand info derived from car counting and video camera analysis; traffic assignment via Gawron’s; traffic light mechanism derived from manual documentation maintained by the regional transportation system authorities)
- data.transportation.gov/Automobiles/Next-Generation-Simulation-NGSIM-Vehicle-Trajector/8ect-6jqj (vehicle trajectories southbound US 101 and Lankershim Boulevard in Los Angeles AND eastbound I-80 in Emeryville, CA and Peachtree Street in Atlanta; harvested as digital video for transcription using NGVIDEO; positions mapped every one-tenth of a second, resulting in detailed lane positions and locations relative to other vehicles; this data-set is provided by U.S. Department of Transportation Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office)
- crawdad.org/epfl/mobility/20090224 (traces of taxi/cabs in San Francisco)
